Where great learning changes lives

Science Week 2026
This week was Science week and we spent the week being curious! Throughout the week the children explored the theme of curiosity through experimentation. Our youngest pupils found ways to make a carrot float, others looked at building strong skeletons and our oldest pupils investigated how to make the most effective paper launcher. We even had a visit from Colchester Academy to learn about refraction. Even Flick got in on the action by visiting year 1 and stealing a carrot snack from their floating experiment!

World Book Day 2026
Once again, our wonderful pupils showed off their creative side on World Book Day 2026. The theme was 'reading for pleasure' so we invited everyone to get comfy and cosy in pyjamas or be creative with a costume. We spent the day sharing our favourite books, enjoying a 'reading buffet' and stopping everything to read whenever the bell rang.

Roach Vale Receives Letter from Education Secretary
We are incredibly proud to share that we have been recognised for our excellent outcomes for our disadvantaged pupils. The Secretary of State for Education, Bridget Phillipson, wrote to Miss Denyer to congratulate the Roach Vale team for all their hard work.

Beauty and the Beast comes to Roach Vale!
We enjoyed a fabulous pantomime performance of Beauty and the Beast by M&M Productions yesterday! The children enjoyed joining in with the traditional pantomime back and forths and loved how the cast included their favourite songs into the show. What a treat to brighten up January!

The Colchester Gazette reports about approach to learning
Brandon Penny, journalist at the Colchester Gazette, paid us a visit to find out what Roach Vale is all about. He wrote a wonderful article about us!
