Early Years Foundation Stage

"In the early years, the curriculum prepares children exceptionally well for the next stage of their learning. Adults reinforce new language often to strengthen children’s use of it. Adults model the skills and attributes they want children to learn, such as problem-solving and curiosity. Children show high levels of concentration when learning or playing".

Ofsted, 2023

Our EYFS provision was judged OUTSTANDING by Ofsted in 2023 thanks to the wide variety of learning experiences we offer the children. Our dedicated outdoor space provides a safe area for children to explore and to learn through both independent and guided activities. Inside, we offer continuous provision alongside carefully chosen adult led activities designed to ensure all children thrive and make progress towards a Good Level of Development. Children enjoy weekly cooking sessions, which build independence, team working skills and a good understanding of healthy eating. Through a vocabularly rich curriculum, children are effectiely supported to learn and aquire the key skills and knowledge needed for continued success through school. Preparing Your Child for School

Starting school in EYFS is a big transition for every child and we want to do everything we can to prepare them for a positive start. We encourage all prospective parents to visit the school and attend our open day events to find out about our setting and see the provision we can offer. In the months leading up to starting school, there are lots of things you can do at home to set your child up for the best start possible. The slide deck below provides information about life at Roach Vale and preparing your child for school.
