Intent:

  • To develop all children’s knowledge, understanding and skills within relationships, health, wellbeing, and understanding of the world in which they live
  • To support children in developing strategies to promote good mental wellbeing
  • To develop resilience and personal characteristics such as kindness and honesty, which will enrich their future lives creating happy, successful and productive members of society.

Based on the Coram Life Education SCARF teaching resources, PSHE teaches children how to make healthy life choices and covers all of the statutory requirements for Relationships and Health Education.

The children are taught in discrete lessons but interwoven into the school ethos are our core values and ambitions which encompass the same life skills as we teach.  These allow the children to practise and apply their PSHE learning in everyday life.

Our Sex and Relationships learning is delivered using the Yasmine and Tom scheme and provides children and young people with the knowledge and skills they need to recognise and enjoy safe and equal relationships and enjoy their sexuality.  It also recognises the needs of all children, and contributes towards combatting the bullying of young people of different genders, sexual orientations, minority ethnic groups and those with physical or learning disabilities.
